觀點副詞和評論性副詞

有些副詞和副詞片語會表達講話者對某件事的觀點，或對某件事做評論。這類副詞和其他副詞不同之處，在於它不會告訴我們某件事是如何發生的。評論性副詞和觀點副詞修飾的是整個句子，而不是單修飾動詞、副詞或形容詞。評論性副詞和觀點副詞之間並沒有實質的差別，只有在句中的位置不同而已。許多觀點副詞也可以用作評論性副詞；然而在某些情況下，副詞的性質會更偏向其中一種。

句中的位置

觀點副詞會放在句首，只有在少數情況下會放在句尾，通常會以一個逗號來與其餘句子隔開。評論性副詞則是放在主要動詞前，但如果動詞是 Be 動詞，副詞則會放在動詞前或後。在少數情況下，主要動詞前的評論性副詞會用逗號來與其餘句子隔開。在以下的例句中，觀點副詞和評論性副詞在句中的位置都是正確的。如果副詞在句中的位置很不尋常、不自然，或在口語上過於文鄒鄒，就會標上星號。
